Ship's wheel from the SS Empire Gladstone:
The freighter ran aground on Toalla Point (also known locally as Haystack Rock) on 5 September, 1905 while travelling between Eden and Pambula and became a total loss. A number of items were salvaged from the wreck, including this ship's wheel. The brass centre engraved "S. S. Empire Gladstone / 1943."
The wheel is in private ownership.
Both the Eden Killer Whale Museum and Merimbula Old School Museum as well as a number of private individuals have artefacts associated with this vessel.
