SABINA PIKE:
Successful local business woman Sabina Pike purchased the one acre allotment for the Australasia late in 1904. A divorcee with a wealth of experience in the local hotel trade, "Aunty Pike" had previously operated Eden's Commercial and Great Southern Hotels before building the Australasia. She remained publican for almost two decades.
Sabina Pike won the Pambula District Hospital's Queen's Competition fundraiser in 1923, She is pictured (left) with her crown and robe and (right) seated in the Australasia's gardens. Both images were by local photographer William T. Hall.
