JOHN HINES:

Builder John Hines was awarded the contract for Eden's Australasia. He erected kilns near the cemetery for the onsite clay needed for brick making; and constructed a sawmill north of Lake Curalo to access timber.

He was responsible many other important local buildings including the Bank of NSW (1901), Robinovitz's Store (1904), Thompson's Point Baths (1901/05) and the lock-up and lock-up keeper's residence (1914), all in Eden; and the sergeant's residence (1901) in nearby Pambula.
